ABOUT
How collective and personal experiences of women can be conveyed through comics? How can comic authors and illustrators challenge stereotypical representations of women? How can female voices be heard and amplified? How socio-cultural changes impact the comics industry?
Women Power in Comics (WOMCOM) is a collaborative initiative involving organisations in six Balkan countries: Students' Cultural Center Novi Sad (Studentski Kulturni Centar Novi Sad – SKCNS) in Novi Sad, Serbia, as lead partner; Bakelit Multi Art Center in Budapest, Hungary; Kino Šiška in Ljubljana, Slovenia; PostScriptum in Athens, Greece; Autonomous Cultural Center Attack (Autonomni Kulturni Centar Attack – AKC Attack) in Zagreb, Croatia, along with the Association for Comic Affirmation in Budva, Montenegro, as an associate partner. This two-year programme (2023-2024) aims to foster collaboration and engagement among comic artists with the goal of investigating and addressing gender issues in comics as well as empowering female comic artists through residencies, exhibitions, and conferences.
Women Power in Comics is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Commission.
4 RESIDENCIES
in four different countries; designed as co-creation spaces, each bringing together twelve artists to produce new comic works in a two-week period, guided by acknowledged mentors.
2 CONFERENCES
in two countries; including presentations, talks, and discussions on topics linked to WOMCOM's key thematics.

in various locations; providing platforms for resident artists to showcase their work.

functioning as WOMCOM’s primary communication channel and a platform for connecting comic artists.
