On 11 June 2024, the WOMCOM exhibition was unveiled at the Cultural and Information Center "Budo Tomović" (KIC) in Podgorica, showcasing the creative outcomes of artist residencies held in Novi Sad, Hungary, and Podgorica. This collection of works, developed under the Women Power in Comics (WOMCOM) initiative, featured diverse perspectives from European comic artists who explored themes of gender, identity, and empowerment.
The exhibition highlighted the collaborative spirit fostered during the residencies, where artists worked under the guidance of prominent mentors to push the boundaries of their medium. Each residency served as a space for experimentation and dialogue, resulting in comics that reflect the unique cultural and personal experiences of the participants.
Audiences were treated to a vibrant array of styles and narratives, underscoring the role of comics as a powerful medium for storytelling and social commentary. By bringing these works together, the exhibition celebrated the achievements of the WOMCOM project and amplified the voices of women in comics, emphasizing their vital contributions to the European comics scene.
