Anna Júlia Benczédi (RO/HU)

Anna Júlia Benczédi (b. 1986) is a Romanian-Hungarian illustrator and comic book artist based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She has published short stories in anthologies in Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Serbia. Benczédi is the artist behind the award-winning graphic novel "Știma apelor," which she created in collaboration with Maria Surducan (writer). For the past decade, she has also been involved in various editorial and advertising projects, ranging from board games and picture books to video explainers and interactive comics apps.

Benczédi wants to explore the vast territory of new media and create her own AR comic book experience, VR story, or infinite canvas narrative to push the boundaries of the comic medium. She believes that comics offer nearly limitless possibilities for self-expression and hopes to witness the medium flourish in her country, just as it has in the West.
