The 1st WOMCOM Conference will take place on September 7–8, 2023, at SKCNS Fabrika in Novi Sad, Serbia. This conference aims to create a dynamic space for discussion, knowledge exchange, and collaboration, focusing on women’s roles and representation in comics.
Bringing together artists, scholars, activists, curators, publishers, editors, and arts managers, the event will serve as a vibrant platform to explore best practices, share research, and highlight the evolving landscape of gender representation in comics.
Through panels, exhibitions, workshops, and performances, the 1st WOMCOM Conference will bridge artistic practice, academic research, and activism, bringing together diverse perspectives that are shaping the future of comics.
Supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe program, the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, and the Provincial Secretariat for Culture, Public Information, and Relations with Religious Communities, WOMCOM is dedicated to fostering critical dialogue and amplifying the voices of women in the comic arts.
